Superintendent Sara-Jane Querfeld made a PowerPoint presentation in regard to the school district’s annual report card from the state, titled “Strategic School Profiles.” Each year, numerous academic details are reported to the state regarding every school in Connecticut.

In a surprise move to some of his colleagues last Thursday evening, John Lambert, chairman of the North Haven Board of Education, addressed the audience just prior to the public comment section of the meeting, and announced his plans to resign from the board.

Prior to the regular North Haven Board of Education meeting for October, an open American Disabilities Act hearing was held on behalf of a 20-year-old student with Down syndrome who attends classes at the high school.

The Board of Education held an emergency meeting Sept. 6 to discuss the scheduled use of the North Haven High School auditorium by the Committee to Elect Michael Freda. As it stands, Freda’s committee will be allowed to use the auditorium.

The North Haven Board of Education voted unanimously last Thursday night to appoint Lauretta Dowling as the interim principal at Clintonville Elementary School for the remainder of the school year, effective immediately.

Sara-Jane Querfeld presented the Board of Education's $42.8 million operating budget for 2008-09 to the Board of Finance during a budget workshop March 1. The budget represents a 6.5 percent increase over last year.
