Little difference exists between North Haven’s top 10 Grand List members in 2009 and 2010. “We’re kind of holding in there for another year,” said town assessor Gary Johns. “We’re hoping for the best for the future.”

On the Oct 1, 2010 Grand List, North Haven’s total taxable amount of $2.827 billion represented a 0.28 percent decrease from 2009’s figure of $2.835 billion.

The 2009 North Haven grand list represents a 1.52 percent decrease over last year’s list, including a $43.427 million decrease in taxable property, according to documents filed by town assessor Gary Johns on Jan. 29.

Late in January the Board of Selectmen took its first look at the town’s budget proposal, and began their meeting with a report from Assessor Gary Johns, who reported a decline in the 2008 grand list – a list of taxable property in town.
