North Haven’s state senator and representative have weighed in on Superintendent Dr. Robert Cronin’s reported consideration to reduce or reshuffle special education teachers in town.

Superintendent Dr. Robert D. Cronin has announced a public meeting to address recent reports that a number of North Haven special education teachers could face lay-offs or internal reassignments.

 For North Haven’s 2009-10 teacher of the year – sixth grade middle school social studies instructor Don Johnson – everyday communication with students is an understated opportunity for growth.

In an auditorium packed with high school students, as well as an assortment of parents and other guests, shouts of enjoyment were raised by countless teenagers last Thursday evening, March 18.

A good teacher is one who teaches academics but also serves as a role model to his and her students. By teaching and mentoring, a teacher can inspire his or her students academically and socially inside and outside the classroom.
