North Haven’s free summer concert series “Music under the Stars” will continue July 13 with Billy Joel cover band Big Shot at 7 p.m. on the Town Green.

Named for the 1978 Billy Joel single, Big Shot is made up of New York musicians, with front man Michael Del Guidice.

Big Shot will perform numbers from Billy Joel’s canon, and pieces by Journey, Paul McCartney, The Beatles and Elton John.

According to the band’s website, its members have performed, recorded or toured with artists and bands including Hall and Oates, Michael Bolton, Tower of Power, Celine Dion, Huey Lewis, The Trans Siberian Orchestra, Billy Joel’s Broadway musical “Movin’ Out” and even with Billy Joel himself at Shea Stadium.

Said this of Big Shot by Billy Joel himself in a 2002 New York Times article on the cover band, “A friend called me and told me to listen to this band that was playing on local TV, and I said, ‘That’s me.’ They said, ‘No, it’s this band,’ and they had a hard time convincing me it wasn’t me. It’s uncanny.

Music Under the Stars is presented by the Department of Community Services, in conjunction with the North Haven business community. All concerts will be held on Tuesday at 7 p.m. on the Town Green unless noted otherwise.

Parking is available at the Town Hall Annex and Town Pool lots.

Attendees should assume all concerts are on the Green regardless of weather. Those concerned about the weather can contact the Recreational Center info-line at (203)234-2535 after 5 p.m. If the recording under “Special Events/Trips” says that there are no cancellations or changes, then the concert can be assumed to be on the Green.

The info-line will provide information if the concert is moved to North Haven High School. There is a limited seating at the school, which will be filled on a first-come-first-serve basis. Food and beverages (including water) will not be allowed in the school.
