The Town of North Haven will be opening its Emergency Operations Center (EOC) on Saturday, Aug. 27 at midnight. The EOC will be located at the North Haven Police Department, 8 Linsley Street.

The EOC will be in place to direct and coordinate all activity between our Police, Fire, Public Works Departments and First Selectman’s office to properly help and support the residents and businesses of North Haven.
The EOC will also be staffed with representatives from the United Illuminating Company, Public Works, Police, Fire and First Selectman Michael Freda.
Additionally, for residents who wish to evacuate their homes, the town is opening up North Haven High School, 221 Elm Street, as a shelter, beginning on Saturday, Aug. 27 at 6 p.m. throughout the duration of the storm. Residents who want shelter there should call (203) 239-5321 ext. 725 should they need transportation. North Haven will be offering busing service and will pick up residents who require transportation.
Locals wishing to use the shelter should remember to bring their medications and be mindful of any special dietary requirements. There will be snacks, juice and water available at the shelter. There will be no resources for cooking available at the high school. The shelter will have approximately 60 cots available. Residents should bring pillows, blankets and sleeping bags. Pets are welcome and should be crated and residents should also bring their food and leash.
Emergency personnel are recommending that residents in flood-prone areas prepare to evacuate early and call the above number for transportation.
For those who would like to drive to the high school shelter, there is plenty of parking available.
